Step 1
Nail a 2 x 4 plate to footing 3/4" outside building line. Set and plumb outside corners. |
Step 2
Join corners with a top 2 x 4 waler. This should be same length as bottom plate and placed completely around building The result will be a square foundation Complete setting of outside panels, nailing to both the bottom plate and the top waler with 2" nails. |
Step 3
Put Strip-Ease ties in slots and secure with 1/4" x 3/4" locking bars. Window bucks, reinforcing offsets, door jambs, etc. should be set at this time. |
Step 4
Locking bars must overlap the joining edges of the plywood forms and enter the next tie. This and alternate spacing of the bars will increase the form stability when concrete is poured. |
Step 5
Set inside panels, starting with the corners. Feed ties through slots. Insert bars by pulling bars through ties. No further bracing or walering is required on inside forms. |
Step 6
When the inside is complete, align and brace the outside form. Note the small amount of bracing and walering. |
Step 7 - To Strip
break off ties with a hammer. Hit the bars, not the ties. See how easily they come off! |
Step 8
Ties break back 1/4" within the concrete Forms are now free to be stripped. |
